Do you have a recommendation for a substitute for rosemary?

Cedarwood, sandalwood, thyme, clary sage, and ylang ylang are also great oils to use on hair. You can try substituting any of these oils for the rosemary in the recipe. The Reference Guide for Essential Oils is a great resource to see what each of these oils and others do for the hair. See pp. 432-434 or lookup “Hair” in the Personal Guide section.

Just be careful – the rosemary and peppermint shouldn’t be used by anyone with seizures (like me!)

My hair is naturally curly. And de-tangling hair locks sometimes become very annoying to me. This post has given me a good solution. I will use essential oil product for de-tangling my curly hair. Thank you.

Such a good idea using vegetable glycerin! I’ve never heard of using that for a homemade hair detangler but it makes total sense – thanks for the suggestion!

Not only do they smell nice together, but lavender and rosemary essential oils are often used to help stimulate hair growth; repair dry, fragile hair; and—with melaleuca—may help dandruff.

if you don’t have glycerin, would you think 1 TBS Young Living conditioner would work?

Sure! The glycerin acts as an emulsifier so the oils combine with the water and also has a slippery quality that really helps detangle the hair. I think conditioner would serve a similar purpose. Let us know how it works for you!
