  1. I just ordered all the ingredients to make this baby shampoo and found that on the very front of the Castile soap in bold print reads – KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. There are also various warnings: if it’s swallowed to seek medical attention, if contact with skin wash with water, you shouldn’t get it in your eyes. I am starting to wonder about having this anywhere near my kids? Does anyone else have any experience with this recipe?

    • This shampoo recipe with Castile soap should be safe to use on children. It is true that they shouldn’t drink the soap and it could sting their eyes or cause skin irritation if not washed off with water (as is the case with most soaps). However, it is still a natural alternative even to baby “tear-free” shampoos.

I have personally used this shampoo on my baby and toddler with great results! I only use water to wash their faces though, so this shampoo/body wash is only used to wash their hair and the rest of their bodies. I also make sure to tip their head back to wash it out of their hair so it doesn’t get in their eyes. Sometimes my toddler gets a little too crazy and applies more soap than necessary, so I just spray them off with the shower head before getting them out of the tub to make sure all the soap is washed off. I also use a wet washcloth when applying it to my baby (who has more sensitive skin) so it is diluted a bit more. Honestly, I think other soap products would have similar warnings anyway about keeping out of reach of children, not swallowing, rinsing with water, and avoiding the eyes.
